The news media would have you believe that the oil crisis in the Gulf has inundated the Keys with toxic sludge.  While this disaster is horrific, and our hearts go out to those directly affected by this catastrophe, it is important to recognize that all the victims are not covered in oil.  We have had many cancellations due to the oil disaster.  Our website visits are down by 50%.  People are convinced that we are already covered in oil.  Where do they get this idea?  From the media.  “Everything is OK” does not make good news.  “Keys in eminent danger” sounds much better.  Only problem is, it isn’t true.  Is it too much to ask of our news media to point out that we don’t have any oil?  The Keys have no incident of oil to date.  Zero.  Zip.  Nada.  The diving and fishing is beautiful.  Now is the time to come to the keys.  It is as beautiful as ever, and there are deals galore on hotels, activities and food.  Not to mention no crowds!
